ESB Networks has recently announced that it has added 1GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity to the electricity network of Ireland. About 500MW of this amount is formed by utility-scale solar farms, 300MW by microgenerators and 200MW of non-exporting solar generation.
Ireland intends to reach 8GW of solar connection by 2030, and this achievement by ESB Networks certainly supports this goal.
According to Eamon Ryan, Ireland's Minister for Climate, the country has seen over 82,000 homes installing solar panels on their rooftops.
